A free event for all young string players

Come and join award-winning violin educator Rachel Cooper for a fun day of string playing designed for students from Grades 2–8.
Schedule
9.50 Registration Grade 5-8 players
10.00 – 12.45pm
The morning session will focus on musicality, technique, and expressive playing.
11.15am 15 minute break
12.45-1.30pm Lunch Break (please bring a packed lunch)
1.20 Registration Grade 2-5 players
1.30 – 3.45pm
n the afternoon, younger students will join for a fun, collaborative session full of ensemble music‑making.
2.30pm 15 minute break
3.45pm Sharing and performance for family and friends
Finish by 4pm
The day is free to all participants thanks to a generous donation made in loving memory of Rhiannon, a former WYO member.
Rachel Cooper is an award‑winning violin educator with a Master’s degree from the Royal College of Music. A trained Suzuki teacher, she has taught at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama Junior Department and now works with Music Masters as a Violin Teacher and Mentor.
Rachel is Head of String Teacher Development for the Benedetti Foundation and co‑founder of VIVAStrings, a holistic summer course for young musicians. She teaches, mentors, performs and delivers masterclasses across the UK and internationally, and in 2023 was honoured with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra’s Emerging Artist Award as part of the Women in Classical Music Symposium.
She is currently authoring a book on violin pedagogy.
