Calling all young musicians! We are hosting an open morning on Sunday 3 October and will be welcoming young players of any standard to come and join in with one or more of our groups for the morning.
Where? Castle Street Centre, Kendal
What groups are running?
9.30 — 10.15am Beginner to Grade 2 (approximately)
Kendal Young Strings
Kendal Young Wind (including brass instruments)
10.30 — 11.15 Grade 2 to Grade 4 (approximately)
WYOTS (Westmorland Youth Orchestra Training Strings)
WYOWB (Westmorland Youth Orchestra Wind Band)
For all wind and brass instruments
11.45 — 1pm For Grade 4 plus
WYO (Westmorland Youth Orchestra)
Who can join in? Our ensemble groups cover all standards from beginner through to advanced players. If you aren't sure which group is suitable you can try more than one.
Which instruments? All orchestral instruments (strings, wind, brass and percussion) are welcome for the main orchestra. The ensembles welcome all wind, brass and strings. If you are in any doubt about your instrument feel free to be in touch.
How do I become a permanent member? Please contact our administrator admin@wyo.org.uk
Who is running the day? The Westmorland Youth Orchestra in collaboration with the Cumbria Music Hub
What does it cost? There is no cost to attend the day.
Can parents watch? Yes, parents and sibings are welcome to stay and watch.
Do I need to register in advance? No you are welcome to turn up and we will register you when you arrive.
What are the Covid measures? Senior school players are requested to wear masks at all times apart from when seated ready to play. Players will be distanced where possible. Parents are requested to wear masks if staying to watch the sessions.
Will there be any refreshments available? We regret that because of Covid restrictions that we are unable to provide any refreshments.
